About DOIFinder
Free academic research and citation tools for everyone.
DOIFinder is a free suite of research tools built to help students, PhD scholars, faculty and independent researchers locate scholarly publications and generate accurate citations without friction or cost.
What we do
Our tools retrieve verified publication metadata from Crossref and OpenAlex — two of the world's largest open scholarly databases — and format it into APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver, IEEE and AMA citations. You can also export references as BibTeX, RIS or EndNote XML for use in Zotero, Mendeley and EndNote.
Our mission
Academic referencing should be accurate, fast and accessible to all. We keep every core feature free, require no registration, and design for speed on any device.
Meet the creator
DOIFinder was created by Gaurav Rana, an Assistant Professor at Shri Ram College of Commerce (University of Delhi) and a researcher with a passion for making academic research more accessible. While working with students, scholars, and faculty members, he recognized that finding DOIs, generating citations, and managing references often required multiple websites and time-consuming steps.
DOIFinder was developed to provide fast, accurate, and free research tools that simplify the academic workflow. The platform continues to expand with citation utilities, reference tools, and AI-powered research features designed to support researchers worldwide.
Data sources
We rely on public, open APIs. Crossref indexes over 150 million scholarly records and is the primary DOI registration agency; OpenAlex adds broad coverage of preprints, authors and citation relationships. We do not own or claim ownership of this bibliographic data.
